Kühne Manufacturing

Thermal insulation components.

Components that contain heat, isolate temperature and hold position, machined from mineral board and technical laminates.

The thermal requirement

A thermal component is specified where heat has to be contained, directed or kept away from adjacent parts. In practice the requirement usually combines a thermal condition with a mechanical or an electrical one: the part has to insulate and also carry, space or position something. Kühne reviews the requirement and confirms material, geometry and manufacturing route per component.

Materials used

Components are produced from the material systems Kühne supplies and processes. The material follows the thermal, mechanical and electrical requirement of the part. Duratec XP: Glass-fibre reinforced calcium silicate mineral composite board, manufactured by Kühne in Nijkerk. Used where thermal insulation and mechanical or dimensional requirements combine. G11 / EP GC 203: Woven glass-fibre epoxy laminate for components that insulate and carry load where elevated temperature forms part of the requirement. GPO-3 / UP GM 203: Glass-reinforced polyester laminate for insulating parts that also carry mechanical load in an assembly. G10 / FR4: Glass-fibre epoxy laminate where electrical insulation, mechanical strength and dimensional stability are required together.

Component forms

Components are produced to drawing, not from a fixed catalogue. Typical forms follow the function the part has in the assembly. Thermal breaks: Parts that separate a heated area from the surrounding structure. Insulating plates and barriers: Board and laminate parts that isolate temperature and, where required, electrical potential. Spacers and supports: Parts that position and hold components apart while insulating them. Heat-facing parts: Components exposed to the thermal condition of the process. Machined profiles: Contours, recesses and machined features produced from board and sheet. Drawing-specific components: Parts defined wholly by the customer drawing or existing component.

Where these components are used

Typical industrial contexts for thermal insulation components. These are application areas, not references or certification claims. Process heat and furnace equipment: Insulating and positioning parts around heated zones. Industrial ovens and heating assemblies: Board and laminate parts that separate heated and unheated areas. Electrical equipment: Components where thermal and electrical insulation requirements meet in one part. Equipment and appliance insulation: Insulating plates, spacers and supports inside technical equipment. Drawing-specific industrial parts: Components specified by drawing for a particular machine or assembly.

Manufacturing and material supply

Two different routes, confirmed per requirement. Material supply: board and sheet supplied as produced or cut to size. Component manufacturing: board and sheet machined into finished parts, from first article to repeat production. Kühne does not manufacture the sourced laminates listed above; it processes them. Duratec XP is manufactured by Kühne.

Scope and confirmation

Suitability for a specific temperature range, environment or standard is confirmed against the manufacturer's data for the specified grade and per requirement. No temperature ratings, tolerances, certifications or test results are published on this page.
